Can you use this system on an existing site?
The system uses customized scripts and a database to store the content for each page. It cannot be used to maintain an existing site, though an existing site can be converted.
Will you convert my existing site for me?
Will you supply graphics?
Will you submit my site to search engines?
You are expected to manage your own site. We expect to only maintain the scripts and supply graphics and/or text for the template, not individual pages. We can transfer the text from your existing site for an extra fee. Hourly rates apply.
As for search engines, we will include a link to your site from at least one of our other sites. Search engines that already index that site should automatically find your site, too. See additional information about search engine optimization.
Do I need a special browser?
Your visitors can use any browser they like to view your site.
WordPress works with all modern browsers, including Internet Explorer, Firefox, Seamonkey, Opera, Safari, and Chrome.
How long does it take to get the site up and running?
There is no fixed timeline but the core system can be set up within a few hours. Plugins take longer; the time varies with the particular plugins chosen. Different hosting services have different set up issues, as well. The fastest install is on our hosting service.
We'll install the necessary scripts and shell database used by the system. The site will use the default template until your custom template is ready, but you can still use the system to add and edit your page content.
Will I have control over the colors and layout?
The system does not work like so-called “What You See is What You Get” (WYSIWYG, a misnomer) tools. Colors, fonts, alignments and other stylistic aspects are set through your templates. All you need to do is edit the text for your pages and mark headings, paragraphs, lists and other bits of text as appropriate for the specific content. The styling will take care of itself.
If you decide you don't like something about the template defaults, just ask and they can be modified to suit your needs.
